European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana spoke out Wednesday against formally determining the outer borders of the European Union. 'The borders cannot be set in stone. We should not finalize them,' he said in an interview with the German magazine Die Zeit. How far the EU should expand is an issue which has led to divisions within the 27-member bloc over how to proceed with the EU constitution, which has been on ice since its rejection by Dutch and French voters in 2005. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is hoping to present a road map on how to proceed with a streamlined version of the document to the next EU summit at the end of June. Read more at: . |
